Eyre Green Iron — industrial facility

Eyre Green Iron

Engineering the infrastructure for the next generation of industrial energy density.

Renewable Capacity 1GW Integrated Electricity
Daily H2 Output 270t Green Hydrogen Per Day
Target Year 2031 First Iron Export
Project Overview

Decarbonising heavy industry through precision engineering.

Hydrogen represents the critical bridge between renewable energy generation and high-temperature industrial processes. At EnergySouth, we don't just provide fuel; we architect the complete lifecycle of H2 - from electrolysis to end-use in direct reduced iron production.

Scaling Infrastructure

By leveraging our existing industrial footprint, we are rapidly scaling electrolyser capacity to meet the demands of steel manufacturing and shipping.

Network Integration

Our proprietary pipeline technologies ensure minimal leakage and maximum safety during the transport of high-pressure hydrogen gas across regional borders.

Key Features

Underground salt cavern hydrogen storage
01

Green Hydrogen Storage

Underground salt cavern storage provides stable, large-scale hydrogen reserves. The Polda Basin geology offers ideal conditions for pressurised hydrogen storage - enabling reliable supply regardless of renewable intermittency and forming the backbone of continuous green iron production.

EGI strategic location map — Eyre Peninsula, South Australia
02

Strategic Location

The Eyre Peninsula sits at the intersection of abundant renewable energy resources and deep-water port access. This geographic advantage enables cost-competitive green iron production with direct export pathways to Asian steel markets - positioning EGI as Australia's premier green industrial export hub.

Impact

Benefits

eco

Environmental Impact

Zero scope 1 emissions from iron production. Each tonne of green iron displaces approximately 2.5 tonnes of CO₂ compared to conventional blast furnace methods - making EGI one of the highest-impact decarbonisation projects in Australian industrial history.
